High-Tech Ice for Olympic Figure Skating and Short Track
The Milano Ice Skating Arena (Assago) forms the technical center for precision and aesthetics at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games. The existing competition arena was extensively modernized in advance and equipped with permanent ice rink infrastructure at Olympic level.
Specialized refrigeration technology creates a precisely calibrated ice structure, providing both a softer surface for safe jumps in figure skating and a harder ice quality for high-speed short track. Thanks to the ICEmaster® system, the ice quality for these contrasting disciplines is monitored and controlled in real time around the clock.

Mobile training surface for Olympic preparation
In addition to the permanent competition ice surface, a mobile training surface was created for Olympic preparation. This temporary ice rink provides additional capacity for athletes and teams and enables professional training conditions directly within the area of the main arena.
